Welcome to website of Down Syndrome Ireland. Our goal is to significantly improve the quality of life of persons with Down syndrome, to ensure that each individual is developed to his/her full potential and to help people with Down syndrome make their own futures as bright and independent as possible.
People experience many great things and also face many challenges throughout their lives. People with Down syndrome are no different, but may need a little help and support along the way. We hope to provide parents, families, and the professionals that assist them with useful and up-to-date information on many topics related to Down syndrome.
Our Objectives
- Down Syndrome Ireland will facilitate and optimise support/service delivery in the country by:
- Raising awareness about people with Down syndrome as valued members of the community.
- Working towards the development of relevant supports and services to enable all people with Down syndrome to achieve their full potential.
- Working closely with our branches, other providers and community groups to ensure integrated analysis, planning and provision of services.
- Being an efficient provider of quality supports and services that have a philosophy of continuous quality improvement.
- Being financially viable.
- Being a first class employer of choice and a good corporate citizen.

Our New & Expectant Families section provides information about Down syndrome especially for new and expectant parents and families. This section will is useful for all new mums, dads, grandparents and extended families.
