Leave a legacy
Legacies are special gifts from one generation to another. By remembering DSI in your Will, you are providing people who really need your support with hope for an inclusive and independent future.
Statistics show that in the UK, charities receive between 40-65% of their income from legacies but in Ireland this figure is only between 5-10%. And yet it is a very simple way to give and demonstrate support of a worthy cause.
There are three types of legacy:
- Residual legacy. An amount of your estate left over once all other responsibilities have been met.
- Pecuniary legacy. A fixed sum of money.
- Reversionary legacy. A gift that passes to another person for use during their lifetime and on their death, it passes to another beneficiary, such as a charity.
Legacies are an extremely tax-efficient way to give to charity, legacies to charity are completely free of Inheritance Tax. Down Syndrome Ireland would receive 100% of any gift you choose to leave.
