Politicians must recognise that people with Down Syndrome have rights too

As we commemorate World Down Syndrome Day 2010, thousands of eligible Irish voters with Down syndrome refuse to be ignored anymore.

Ireland will celebrate World Down Syndrome Day 2010
on Wednesday the 24th of March

Down Syndrome Ireland are asking policical parties, if their parties can afford to ignore over seven thousand people with Down Syndrome and their families?

On Wednesday the 24th of March from 12pm - 1pm at Buswells Hotel, Dublin, DSI staff and officers together with national spokespersons with Down syndrome are calling on members of the Dáil to recognise the rights of adults with Down syndrome to particiapte in the political process.  A presentation will be delivered by adults with Down syndrome in relation to national issues that are significant to their lives with topics ranging from employment and further education to the provision of crucial services.  Click here to read more on this event.
